Hornets continue their series of minor roster transactions

The Charlotte Hornets have made a series of roster moves over the course of the last week or so. Just about every day, they’ve signed a new player while waiving the one they signed the day before. It started with the waiving of DaQuan Jeffries to make room for Keyontae Johnson, Brandon Slater, and Marcus Garrett to pass through. We’ve had a few more since then.

DJ Rodman and Terrell Brown Jr. have now entered the fold, and it seems only a matter of time before Brown gets his walking papers as well.

All of these moves seem silly on the surface, but we can assume all of these contracts are Exhibit 10 deals, which give the player a bonus if they sign and stick around with the team’s G League affiliate. These are effectively preparatory contracts for the Greensboro Swarm. So far, here’s who we’ve got:

  • Keyontae Johnson
  • Brandon Slater
  • Marcus Garrett
  • DJ Rodman
  • Terrell Brown Jr.

None of the players are new to the organization and surely there’s some rapport built up between the team and the players. All have either played for the Swarm or appeared in the Summer League for the Hornets. We’re just keeping the squad together.

UPDATE: Another transaction has just come through.

Isiah Moore is the next player through the door. He played for the Swarm last season and will head to Greensboro to start next season as well.
