2023 NBA Draft Lottery: Charlotte Hornets move up to #2

The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery has come and gone, and the Charlotte Hornets just narrowly missed out on the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes. That honor went to the San Antonio Spurs. But the Hornets got the best consolation prize they could have asked for by jumping up to the second overall pick.

They had a 12.2% chance of landing this pick, so we’ll take it. The Hornets will have their pick of guys like Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson, Cam Whitmore, and the Thompson twins. They should be getting an immediate impact player whoever they take, so there’s still plenty of reason to be excited.

Miller is a versatile, sharpshooting wing that has a lot of the same traits of superstars like Paul George and hints of Jayson Tatum. Henderson is like if Russell Westbrook could shoot–an endless ball of energy with absurd athleticism and above average passing. Whitmore is a more natural-scoring Miles Bridges. The Thompson twins are elite athletes and play makers. There is a lot of good here.

So who’s on the top of everyone’s wish list?
