While most of you are out cooking hot dogs and hamburgers on this lovely Memorial Day weekend, the Charlotte Hornets are putting the work in. They brought in six more players for workouts today. Here’s the list along with their At The Hive draft rankings.
- Javan Johnson, wing, DePaul, not ranked
- Taevion Kinsey, wing, Marshall, 95th
- Nikola Djurisic, wing, Mega Basket (Serbia), 63rd
- Cedric Henderson Jr., wing, Arizona, unranked
- Judah Mintz, guard, Syracuse, 22nd
- Nadir Hifi, guard, Le Portel, unranked
The highlight of the group is Mintz, a freshman guard out of Syracuse. He’s a traditional point guard. He’s a very good ball handler, passer, and overall floor general, but he’s more of a passer than a scorer. He has some good scoring ability around the basket, but he needs to improve as an outside shooter to maximize his impact in the NBA.
Djurisic has the same first name and is coming from the same team as two time MVP Nikola Jokic, so that’s intriguing in its own right. He’s a big wing that can handle and pass a little bit and has made the Serbian national team at just 18 years old.
The last prospect, Nadir Hifi, is not ranked in our top 100 and is a long shot to make the league this season, but he’s trying to become the first Algerian player to make the NBA.
