Charlotte Hornets NBA trade deadline tracker and open thread

Well we’ve finally made it to one of the biggest days on the NBA calendar, especially for those who take more of an interest in the transactional side of the NBA over the basketball side. The Charlotte Hornets are going to be sellers and have had a handful of players surface in rumors.

The league hasn’t waited until deadline day to make moves, and some of them have been relatively large. Here are the trades that have happened so far

  • The Raptors traded OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn to the Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and the Pistons 2024 2nd round pick
  • The Wizards traded Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala to the Pistons for Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers, and a couple of 2nd round picks
  • The Raptors traded Pascal Siakam to the Pacers for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis (who was just acquired from the Pelicans) and three 1st round picks
  • The Hornets (hey that’s us!) traded Terry Rozier to the Heat for Kyle Lowry’s contract and a 2027 1st round pick
  • The Grizzlies traded injured Steven Adams to the Rockets for injured Victor Oladipo and three 2nd round picks
  • The Jazz traded Simone Fontecchio to the Pistons for Kevin Knox and a 2nd round pick
  • The Pistons traded Monte Morris to the Timberwolves for Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr., and a 2030 2nd round pick
  • The Grizzlies traded Xavier Tillman to the Celtics for Lamar Stevens and more 2nd round picks

The Pistons seem to be in the business of getting rid of young players to acquire old dudes on expiring contracts. The Grizzlies are doing the opposite and trading whoever they can to get all of the 2nd round picks. The Raptors are tearing it down.

It sets up what should be an interesting deadline day. Let’s chat about it.

This is now an open thread!
