The Hornets enter this contest with the 76ers riding a two game winning streak. They shut the Pacers down on Friday on the way to a 20 point win. The 76ers have lost five in a row, four them by double figures. So naturally, the 76ers are favored tonight.

The hosts are without their two centerpieces in Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Embiid is serving a suspension for shoving a reporter in the locker room. Maxey is out for a couple weeks after straining his hamstring. That leaves Paul George as the last pillar of their big three, but he’s been off to a slow start after getting hurt in the preseason.

With George working his way into form, the 76ers have been led by former Hornets Kelly Oubre and Caleb Martin. That alone should tell you what state their team is in currently. Both are averaging double figures in scoring but are struggling with shooting efficiently. Either could get hot, especially Oubre, so caution does need to be exercised there.

The entire 76ers roster has struggled to put the ball through the cylinder this season. They’re second worst in the league in field goal percentage and fifth worst in 3-point percentage. Their 54% true shooting percentage is third worst in the league.

If the Hornets defend like they did on Friday, it should be very hard for the 76ers to find points. The 76ers haven’t been guarding well either. Really they’ve just been legitimately bad everywhere.

Despite being underdogs, the Hornets have every chance to win this game if recent trends hold true.
