You’ll soon be able to watch the Charlotte Hornets on Amazon Prime

Diamond Sports group, which is the owner and operator of what was previously Bally Sports and is now FanDuel Sports Network has reached an agreement with Amazon Prime to stream games on the Prime platform. It will be an add-on subscription offer for Prime customers.

This always seemed destined to happen with Amazon pouring a hefty sum of money into the failing regional sports networks almost a year ago. That brought local Major League Baseball games onto the platform. The NBA was always going to join at some point. That point is now.

You’ll still be able to watch the games on cable television if you still have it and on the FanDuel Sports Network app. Amazon Prime will provide a tertiary outlet for viewers as they try to capture as much of the regional audiences as they can.

I can’t find pricing for the add-on for Prime, but there will apparently be monthly and season long options. But perhaps the coolest thing out of all of this–Prime will offer single games for a one time purchase of $6.99, no subscription required. While that would add up a pretty decent chunk of change if you were to use it regularly, it’s a nice option to use in a pinch if you’re away from home and need to get a Hornets fix. It’s something that I’d like to see more of in the sports streaming world.

All of this will start on December 5th.
