Charlotte Hornets waive Isaiah Wong

The Charlotte Hornets announced that they waived guard Isaiah Wong from his two-way contract on Thursday.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise. Wong has played more often than not and has done pretty well with his opportunities. He averaged 6.0 points in 13.3 minutes per game and just scored a career high 17 points against the Pistons on Sunday.

The only reason I can come up with for the Hornets waiving him is that he may be approaching his game limit. He’s only appeared in 20 games, but he’s been dressed and active for a lot more. I’m not sure what the number is, but that might be what it comes down to.

Wong’s release opens a two way contract for the Hornets. They’ll have a week over the all star break to find someone to bring in to fill that spot. My guess is they’ll target a big.
