Kon Knueppel and KJ Simpson earn All Summer League second team honors

The NBA announced their All Summer League teams on Monday because those are in fact a thing. Two teams had more than one representative. One was the Sacramento Kings. The other: your reigning summer league champion Charlotte Hornets.

Both Kon Knueppel and KJ Simpson earned second team honors, while Kon Knueppel also earned MVP honors for helping lead the Hornets to the championship. Here are the full teams:

NBA 2K26 All-Summer League First Team

  • Nique Clifford
  • Kyle Filipowski
  • David Jones-Garcia
  • Jordan Miller
  • Terrence Shannon Jr.

NBA 2K26 All-Summer League Second Team

  • Ron Holland II
  • Isaac Jones
  • Kon Knueppel
  • Ajay Mitchell
  • KJ Simpson

Nique Clifford is the only other rookie from the 2025 class to make either of the teams, and he’s a 23 year old rookie. Simspon is one of several second year players to get the nod.

No one ever remembers who made the all summer league teams, but it’s something we can bask in on the heels of the Hornets winning the whole kit and caboodle on Sunday night. The organization is trying to build a winning culture, and the best way to do that is to start winning things. Few things are less meaningful in the NBA than summer league awards, but that’s still more than the Hornets have won in recent times. That’s a step in the right direction.
