The Hornets might be catching a break getting the 76ers on the second night of a back to back, especially with the game being an hour earlier than the usual start time. The Sixers are going to be playing this season for the playoffs, so LeBron James and Joel Embiid are going to be treated with an abundance of caution throughout the season. And Jaylen Brown missed last night’s game with patellar tendinopathy, so there’s really no telling who’s actually going to play tonight.

Based on the season to this point, this has all the makings of a disgusting basketball game. Both teams have been gutting out wins with good defense to try to cancel out terrible offense. It’s kind of the opposite of what I’d expect from this 76ers team, so I’m kind of curious how this season plays out. Unless Joel Embiid has been rejuvenated this season, he’s not the defensive anchor he used to be. Jaylen Brown and LeBron James are not exactly the most engaged off ball defenders either, and that’s not exactly a recipe for a good defense. But they’re limiting open looks from the outside and benefitting from opponents shooting a poor percentage from out there. With how the Hornets are shooting, there’s a good chance that continues. This game might be first to 100 wins, if either team gets to 100. Maybe just go enjoy trick or treating with your kids and then watch this game later if the result goes in the Hornets favor.

P.S. We need some more variety in NBA branding. This is the sixth of seven straight games the Hornets are playing against a team whose primary color is red. Let’s follow the lead of the WNBA and get some more colors in the logo palette. We don’t have to limit ourselves to ROYGBIV.
