The Charlotte Hornets made a couple of roster moves over the All Star weekend. First, after waiving guard Isaiah Wong, they added former Duke guard Wendell Moore on a two-way deal.

It’s a homecoming for Moore, who went to Cox Mill high school in Concord, just outside of Charlotte. He stayed in state to attend Duke, where he spent three seasons before going pro and getting selected late in the first round by the Mavericks in 2022. He spent all of this season with the Pistons but was waived during the team’s roster shuffling at the trade deadline. He appeared in 20 games this season, but most of the more recent appearances were simply mop up duty.
In other news, the Hornets signed Elfrid Payton to a second 10 day contract.

Payton appeared in just two games during his first 10 day stint, but clearly the team likes what he brings to the table as a defender and facilitator. He’ll look to build off his four point, seven assist outburst against the Magic in the last game before the All Star break.
