LaMelo Ball snubbed from the All Star team

The NBA announced the full All Star rosters for the Eastern and Western Conferences, and Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball was not on them. Here they are:

As is usually the case with All Star snubs, there aren’t any egregious names that shouldn’t have made the teams except maybe James Harden in the west. Turns out there are a lot of really good players in the NBA.

Either way, some of the players we talked about when we saw how low Ball was in the media vote made the team over him. Clearly team success factored heavily in the decisions to name the players. You could argue pretty convincingly for Ball to make the team over Damian Lillard or Cade Cunningham. He certainly seems more deserving than Pascal Siakam, though the two play different positions and don’t directly compete with one another for a roster spot.

There’s still a chance that Ball could make it as an alternate if one of the players on the roster withdraws due to injury. Still, it’s a shame to see Ball not make it on the initial roster. He’s been electric this season even if he’s taken a bit of a dip in recent weeks. I guess there’s always next year.
