The Charlotte Hornets have released the Summer League roster for the California Classic and NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas.
The graphic notes that it’s a minicamp roster, so there could be a chance that some of these players aren’t with the team for the duration of Summer League. The Hornets announced on Tuesday that assistant coach Marlon Garnett will be the Summer League head coach for the trip to Sacramento and Vegas.
The entire 2023 draft class is present on the roster, including James Nnaji and all three undrafted free agents. James Bouknight and Kai Jones make the semi-rare third trip to Summer League, and Bryce McGowens joins them for his second trip. Kobi Simmons is on a non-guaranteed deal for 23-24 and Xavier Sneed was on a Two-Way at the end of last season; both will be on the roster.
Anthony Duruji, Jaylen Sims and Tre Scott all played for the Greensboro Swarm last season. That leaves four new faces on the Summer League roster: Cameron Henry, Taijon Jones, Justin Robinson and Jaylon Scott.
Henry, Jones, and Scott are all undrafted free agents from the class of 2023. Jones spent five seasons at UNC Asheville and Scott played a fifth year at College of Charleston. Henry played the last two seasons at Indiana State after three years of DII ball at Lincoln Memorial.
Robinson has three seasons (43 appearances) of NBA experience with the Wizards, Thunder, Bucks, Kings and Pistons, and spent last season with LaMelo Ball’s former NBL team, the Illawarra Hawks. He played four college seasons at Virginia Tech before going undrafted in 2019.
We’ve got a roster in our hands. Only three more days until we get to see the Summer Hornets in action against the San Antonio Spurs (sans Wemby) in Sacramento at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN.
