According to Adrian Wojanrowski of ESPN, the Charlotte Hornets are hiring current (or now former) Jazz assistant Lamar Skeeter as the top assistant on their coaching staff.
The Charlotte Hornets are hiring Utah Jazz assistant Lamar Skeeter as the top assistant for new coach Charles Lee’s staff, sources tell ESPN. Skeeter spent a decade with Jazz under Will Hardy and Quin Snyder, elevating from a development coach into a lead assistant. pic.twitter.com/TxMwgVfn2d

Skeeter will serve as the top assistant for Charles Lee, who the Hornets named as their next head coach yesterday.
Skeeter had been with the Jazz since 2014, where he started as an assistant video coordinator. He worked his way up from that role to player development coach to assistant coach, which has become a very popular path for very successful NBA coaches. There isn’t any overlap in the work history of Lee and Skeeter, which makes this an interesting hire. However they know each other, I’m sure they share the same vision of what they want their Hornets team to look like.
Skeeter has survived multiple coaching changes in Utah, which speaks to his value within the organization. There’s no way to know how much a part of this he was, but the Jazz have been relatively successful for much of their recent history, sometimes by accident. Hopefully he brings that kind of success to Charlotte.
