The Charlotte Hornets have selected Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson with the 18th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
You can read a full scouting profile on Anderson here.
I threw in a scouting report on Anderson late in the process because I personally really, really liked him as a prospect. I didn’t really think he was in play for the Hornets though given that guard didn’t seem like a super pressing need. But now he’s here, and I’m excited about it.
Anderson might be the best 3-point shooter in the draft. He made 41.5% of this 3-point attempts last season at Texas Tech while attempting 7.9 threes per game. He’s a knockdown shooter both off the catch and off the dribble. He gets into his shot with a variety of hops and skips that are pretty unique. He’s a natural shooter that has tremendous touch both on the move and from a standstill. On top of that, he’s a high level facilitator, using his gravity as a shooter to open up angles for passes to teammates and to make the occasional foray to the basket. He’s also a great motor guy that tries hard on both ends.
The questions around Anderson almost entirely based on his size. His height and length are fine, but he’s only 180 pounds, and he just looks pretty small on the floor. For as skilled as he is and as hard as he tries, he’s always going to be held back by his size. He can be a pest defensively, but teams might pick on him in high leverage situations, where he’ll struggle to hold up against size.
Anderson adds guard depth to a Hornets team. Assuming he comes back, Anderson and Coby White would make for a dynamic back court pairing off the bench that are going to be incredibly difficult for opposing benches to guard. The Hornets love to bomb threes. Anderson is going to help them bomb more threes.
The Hornets come out of the 2026 draft with a couple of German basketball players with Anderson and 14th overall pick Hannes Steinbach. Talk about a culture fit.
